Golden State Warriors Event Center and Mixed-Use Development

The Golden State Warriors proposed an 18,500-seat event center in the Mission Bay area of San Francisco to serve as the team’s home arena and to host concerts and other events. The project also includes two 11-story office buildings and retail uses on an approximately 11-acre waterfront site.

The City certified the EIR, which received an Award of Excellence from the Association of Environmental Professionals, and approved the project in December 2015. The approvals were challenged in litigation brought by project opponents. The matter proceeded under the expedited judicial review provisions of Assembly Bill 900.

RMM attorneys served as lead CEQA counsel for the Warriors and argued the case in the trial court and on appeal. In a published decision, the First District Court of Appeal upheld the EIR and the City’s approvals. (Mission Bay Alliance v. Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure (2016) 6 Cal.App.5th 160.) The California Supreme Court denied review.

Groundbreaking occurred in January 2017.
