Nina loves her job. She has wanted to be an environmental attorney since the seventh grade. Nina is the mother of two very active kids. She moonlights as a soccer and swim mom. Nina enjoys eating all the things, baking, running (because of all the eating and baking), and spending time with her family and friends. She was a four-year NCAA swimmer who switched to running more than a decade ago. Nina has finished three marathons and two ultramarathons.

About Christina

Christina “Nina” Berglund represents public agencies and private clients in complex land use and environmental matters throughout California. Her practice focuses on CEQA and NEPA compliance strategy, entitlement risk management, and the defense of development approvals in trial and appellate courts.

Since joining the firm in 2016, Ms. Berglund has advised on and defended millions of square feet of development, including affordable housing, mixed-use and infill projects, logistics and warehouse facilities, and major public infrastructure. She works with clients from project conception through litigation, structuring environmental review to withstand challenge and position projects for long-term success.

Ms. Berglund is experienced in matters involving water supply, infrastructure, and large-scale public projects, where regulatory complexity and political scrutiny intersect. She regularly counsels clients on baseline strategy, subsequent review obligations, the enforceability of mitigation, administrative record development, and litigation risk. Her command of the procedural and evidentiary nuances that drive CEQA and land-use cases helps agencies and project proponents make defensible decisions.

Ms. Berglund chairs the Sacramento County Bar Association’s Environmental Law Section. She serves as a contributing editor to Continuing Education of the Bar’s California Land Use Practice book and contributes to additional CEB publications that guide practitioners through CEQA and complex land-use frameworks. She regularly teaches continuing education programs for professional organizations, including the Association of Environmental Professionals.

She has been annually recognized as a California Super Lawyer since 2021 and was named a Top Lawyer in Environmental Law by Sacramento Magazine in 2023. A member of the American Institute of Certified Planners since 2008, Ms. Berglund previously worked as a community and environmental planner, bringing practical planning insight to her legal practice.
